Summer is quickly coming to a close, but there is still time to celebrate the season with one final Calabasas RV road trip. Here at Expedition Motorhomes, we’re always looking for an excuse to take to the road and explore California a little more. Oftentimes, those excuses come in the form of celebrations, as The Golden State is full of festivals and parties if you know where to look. And while there are many reasons to kick off a vacation in your Calabasas RV rental this September, some of the festivals this month are simply not to be missed. Keep reading to learn a bit more about some of our favorite end-of-summer celebrations.
The Long Beach Original Lobster Festival
Just down the road from Expedition Motorhomes, Long Beach, CA is an easy stop on any Calabasas RV road trip. If you find yourself in the area around the weekend of September 8 – 10, do not miss the Original Lobster Festival at Rainbow Lagoon. This growing celebration has become a tradition over the last 20 years and includes plenty of live music, arts and crafts booths, drinks, karaoke, face painting, a petting zoo, animal variety show, and, of course, delicious lobster and other food. Being so close to your RV rental headquarters, stopping by for a few hours before or after you return your vehicle is a no brainer.

The Northern California Renaissance Faire
The Northern California Renaissance Faire will be held in Hollister, CA, just a little south of San Jose, every weekend from September 16th to October 15th and is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Complete with period costumes, delicious food, jousts, medieval entertainment, and local artists, there is no shortage of things to taste or experience in Hollister on weekends in September.

The 60th Monterey Jazz Festival
Thousands of people look forward to this Central Coast staple each year, and this 60th incarnation is shaping up to be an especially good one. Held in beautiful Monterey, CA, the festival showcases local and international artists over the course of three days and nights (September 15 – 17). This year, there is a special tribute to legend Herbie Hancock in addition to the countless other artists and collaborations that will wow audiences from rope drop to final encore during this sure-to-be unforgettable September weekend.
